I moved to Colorado in 2015 and was immediately drawn to the mountains, camera in tow. I was following in the footsteps of my grandfather, Robert M. Johnson, who explored the mountains of Wyoming and Colorado from his home in Cheyenne. Conveniently, genetics have passed down his love of nature and his photographic memory for roads and trails.

Many of these pictures have been taken during hundreds of miles of solo hikes and backpacking trips. They capture more than just the physical activity and the shape of the land. They represent meditation, healing and growth. Every picture has its own story or challenge. Bitter cold, extreme angles, towering heights, endless miles, absolute solitude, amazing vacations, friends and family. I hope you enjoy seeing these journeys through my eye.
